Language
Effective communication is a vital skill for children to connect with others, express their needs, and engage in learning. At CommuniKids Speech Therapy, we focus on building both receptive (understanding) and expressive (speaking) language skills, as well as supporting the development of strong narrative abilities. Our therapy focuses on:
Receptive Language – Helping children understand and follow directions, respond to questions, and comprehend conversations.
Expressive Language – Supporting children in using words and sentences to express their thoughts, ideas, and needs clearly.
Vocabulary Development – Expanding a child's word bank and understanding of word meanings in different contexts.
Sentence Structure – Encouraging correct grammar, sentence formation, and word order for clear communication.
Narrative Skills – Helping children tell stories by organizing ideas in a logical sequence, using appropriate details, and practicing storytelling techniques.
Pragmatic Language – Supporting the appropriate use of language in social settings, such as greetings, turn-taking, and asking questions.
Speech Clarity – Improving pronunciation and articulation to ensure speech is clear and understandable.
Parent & Caregiver Involvement – Providing strategies to reinforce language skills at home through everyday interactions.
We individualise therapy to clients, incorporating both play-based and more structured approaches into sessions. We make language development both fun and meaningful, helping children grow their communication skills in a supportive environment.
